12-year-old girl With Coronavirus “Fighting for Her Life” at an Atlanta hospital

A new report has identified a 12-year-old girl that is “fighting for her life” at an Atlanta hospital after testing positive for coronavirus.

Initial reports have pointed to to virus being much more dangerous and at times lethal to the elderly population, however not enough time and data has been established to truly identify the dangerous of the COVID-19 and it effect on the entire population.

Justin Anthony said his cousin Emma was placed on a ventilator Saturday after being confirmed positive the day before for the virus, CNN reported.

According to the report, she initially was diagnosed with pneumonia on March 15, only to receive test results days later for the virus.

Anthony said his young cousin is “fighting for her life” despite having no pre-existing conditions that would put her at higher risk for the infectious disease, the outlet also noted.

Later he said, the 12-year-old has not recently traveled and it’s unclear how she contracted the dangerous bug.

The Hospital, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta-Scottish Rite  confirmed that a patient has tested positive for the virus but provided no further details, CNN reported.

Hospital spokeswoman Jessica Pope told the outlet that “the patient remains in isolation, and we have consistently used appropriate precautions,”and that “Additional details will not be released due to patient privacy laws.”
