When news broke that black lives matter activist Sasha Johnson was shot multiple times, news organizations raced to cover the story. As more details emerge and the race of those arrested for the crime emerged, sites like CNN and other top level news organizations identified much less interest.
An 18-year-old man appeared in court on Saturday after he was charged over the shooting of Black Lives Matter activist Sasha Johnson in London. Johnson was shot in the head during a birthday party last Sunday in Peckham, south London, and remains in hospital in a critical condition.
Five men were arrested in connection with the attack.
Four of the suspects were released on bail on Friday, while Cameron Deriggs was charged with conspiracy to murder.
Deriggs, who was wearing blue jeans and a grey zip-up hoodie is from Bromley Hill in Lewisham, appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Saturday morning.
He did not enter a plea.
