As reported earlier today, Chicago police took two persons of interest in Smollett’s alleged “white supremacist MAGA hate crime attack” into custody late Wednesday night.
Over the past few weeks police have been unable to uncover any other leads than these 2 individuals.
Following their arrest more doubt was cast on Smollett’s story.
Smollett claimed his attackers were white supremacists and that they told Smollett he was in MAGA country, while placing a noose around his neck and pouring bleach on him.
Then in an even more interesting turn, after a significantly long interrogation they were released without charges.
Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi tweeted: “Due to new evidence as a result of today’s interrogations, the individuals questioned by police in the Empire case have now been released without charges.”
“Police are investigating whether the two individuals committed the attack – or whether the attack happened at all,” Chicago police told ABC News.
Although Smollett is still considered a victim according to police, Smollett has ODDLY hired a very prominent Criminal Defense Attorney.
Fox 32 reporter Rafer Weigel: “High-profile #Chicago defense attorney Michael Monico let it be known he was representing #JussieSmollett on @RoeConn radio show today.
He added, “Monico also represents #MichaelCohen. He’s considered one of the bestdefense lawyers in the country.”

The hiring of such a high profile Criminal Defense Attorney has many believing Smollett may be preparing to face charges.
