Rep. Devin Nunes Blasts Media in Opening Statement, Calling Them ‘Puppets for the Democratic Party’

On Tuesday, House Intelligence Committee Ranking Member Devin Nunes (R-CA) addressed the American people by criticizing the media for their coverage of the hearings versus what is actually happening, pointing out the “disconnect between what you actually saw and the mainstream media accounts describing it.”

And how the “three diplomats who dislike the President’s Ukraine policy” were talking about “second-hand and third-hand conversations about their objections,” even though they did not speak to Trump about these issues, and that “they were unable to identify any crime or impeachable offense the President committed.”

Nunes called attention to the press reports of “shocking, damning, and explosive testimony that fully supports the Democrats’ accusations,” like the media’s familiar way of “preposterous reporting“ of the Russian hoax by reading headlines from CNN, The New York Times, Slate, The Guardian, and Buzzfeed, which were all proven false.

Nunes called the media “puppets of the Democratic Party.” Based on his opening statement, it was obvious that Nunes was going to be loaded got bear.

He specifically called out Chairman Adam Schiff for his multiple instances of deceptive, duplicitous and partisan behavior. In particular, his shopping around for nude photos of Trump, the coverup of Alexandra Chalupa’s role as a Democrat operative using Ukraine sources to corruptly influence the 2016 election, and his making up a fake transcript of the call between President Trump and the Ukrainian president.

The man chosen by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to lead the Democrats’ impeachment efforts against President Trump not only lacks credibility but is deeply dishonest and corrupt.

Adam Schiff has been lying to the American people about President Trump, his campaign and his administration for years. With subpoena power handed over after Republicans lost the House in 2018, he’s become more emboldened to use deception and smears to meet his political goals.
