SCHUMER RESPONDS: Accuses Trump of ‘Hostage Taking’ in Border Compromise

Senate Minatory Leader Chuck Schumer released an official response to The President’s budget proposal Saturday evening; accusing the President of “hostage taking” in a potential compromise that would secure funding for his border wall.

“With his statement on the #TrumpShutdown, it’s clear President @realDonaldTrump realizes that by closing the government and hurting so many American workers and their families, he has put himself and the country in an untenable position,” posted Schumer on social media.

“Unfortunately, @realDonaldTrump keeps putting forward one-sided and ineffective remedies. There’s only way out: open up the government, Mr. President, and then Democrats and Republicans can have a civil discussion and come up with bipartisan solutions,” he added.
