“Senator McConnell is in charge of the Senate. If Mrs. Pelosi refuses to allow the president to deliver the State of the Union in the House, I propose we move it to the Senate and make it happen!” Paul tweeted.

Speaker Pelosi stated without consulting the United States Secret Service or the Department of Homeland Security that “security concerns” for the event brought her to this conclusion and the shutdown could make the address a dangerous situation for politicians and guests.
